Haut Jura Comtoise alarm clock, only movement with alarm, so-called. Maids' or servants' clock, around 1730/1740. Clocks of this type hung in or near the maids' and servants' sleeping chambers to ring them out of bed early in the morning. Verge escapement and lead pendulum. Forged iron hands, brass chapter ring. Decoration scraped / engraved with a burin (see detailed photo).
