No. 499 CUM Lantern Comtoise hybrid movement from the period around 1750/1760. A lantern clock movement with a going and striking train wheel train arranged one behind the other is transformed into an 8-day cable movement by modifying the front and back plates - the middle plate remains unchanged - to enable it to be used as a Comtoise movement. The two plates are placed on two plate legs so that the cable pulleys required for the 8-day running time can be mounted between the plates. The shape of the movement cage and the arrangement of the plates are reminiscent of the lantern clock, as is the fastening of the plates by means of wedges. The winding of the weights of the 8-day cable movement from the front using a crank key, bow anchor and rack striking mechanism are reminiscent of the Comtoise movement. The movement cage also has the necessary holes for the doors and back plate. This hybrid movement with a typical face of time built into a grandfather clock case makes it impossible for the observer to decide what type of movement is concealed behind the dial. As an alternative, this hybrid movement has not been able to hold its own against the 'normal' Comtoise movement. Cage: 165 x 155 x 122 H x W x D , Movement: 255 x 155 x 190 ( all dimensions in mm )
