No. 85 CUM

Comtoise clock with barrel music mechanism and quarter-hour strike on 3 bells - Petite Sonnerie. Striking mechanism triggered by spring pressure. On the back wall of the clock cage, within an iron frame retrofitted to the movement, a barrel music mechanism was mounted on a wooden board serving as a resonator. This mechanism plays a tune before each full hour, either always the same or one of six different melodies. The mechanism is signed: DAVID CADET FAt. A MORE DEt DU JURA (David Cadet Fabricant à More, Département du Jura). The mechanism is a component not originally designed for a Comtoise clock but likely intended for a wooden case, as was customary at the time. Powered by chain drive.
The decorative plate, with a rustic motif: "Midday Rest," is marked: Deposé Brèveté. This clock dates to around 1845/50.
