9-inch Comtoise clock with anchor escapement and pressed pendulum from around 1880/1890. Brass-embossed decorative plate with floral and vine motifs. The lower part of the pendulum features depictions of the musketeers d’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis from the guard of Louis XIII, whose story became world-famous through Alexandre Dumas’ novel. One musketeer moves in sync with the pendulum swing. Half-hour and full-hour striking on a bell with repetition. Enamel dial signed: Jean Coco à Tréguier.
