No. 503 CUM
Comtoise rooster clock by Grand, known for creating clocks that deviated from the standard Comtoise movements. The plates are secured with wing screws, allowing them to be tightened or loosened by hand. The front mounting plate for the dial is fixed to the upper movement plate using two small wedges. The striking mechanism's cadrature is significantly different from the usual design and is located on the front striking plate. 8-day rope-driven movement with verge escapement and a lead pear pendulum. Half-hour passing strike and full-hour strike with repetition on a bell. Cast clamp featuring a rooster and three Bourbon lilies. Brass sheet covering the lower half of the dial, signed: D GRAND A MIGNOVILLAR 1785. The 4 mm-high letters of the signature were stamped with punches, as evidenced by the double impression of the "D" and the deformations visible on the back of the brass sheet. Bowl-shaped enamel dial with Roman hour numerals and Arabic 5-minute markers. Very early form of a brass sun hand.
