Comtoise cockerel clock from the time of the French Revolution, circa 1789 to 1793.
Cast decorative piece with a Gallic cockerel above an emblem of "interlocking hands," symbolizing fraternity (fraternité). 8-day movement with verge escapement. Full-hour strike on a bell with repetition after 2 minutes, and passing half-hour strike. Bowl-shaped enamel dial with arched minute ring (à la Dauphine) featuring Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals, signed: Pautbier à Flangebouche. Pierced iron hands with integrated hearts.

The makeshift attachment of the dial using wire loops was retained during restoration, as this method of attachment is part of the clock's "life" and is often encountered. (all dimensions in mm)
