Nr. 146 CUM

9-inch Comtoise clock from around 1836/37 with sun-head motif (Apollo head) and ribbon. Verge escapement with folded pendulum, half-hour strike en passant, full-hour strike on a bell with repetition.
Centrally positioned under crossed acanthus leaves and ears of wheat, as well as lateral vine leaves and grapes: HORA FUGIT. The hour passes.
The Hora Fugit motif first appeared around 1836/37, initially with the usual sun-shaped hands, later predominantly with star-shaped hands, which were created in 1839/40 during the Napoleon euphoria.
Enamel dial with polychrome painting around the location designation. Signature: Thomas Hagneaux à Coudres.
The movement cage is set on pointed iron feet, reminiscent of the typical lanternclocks from Pont-Farcy. The clockmaking dynasty 'Hagneaux' from Coudres in Normandy marketed this special form of Comtoise clock. Signatures from 'Victor' and 'Nicolas' Hagneaux can also be found.
