No. 569 CUM

9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1845, two-part embossed decorative front plate with Rococo style elements such as rocailles and a shell ornament at the top apex. The new star hand, which emerged in the context of the enthusiasm for Napoleon (the mortal remains of Napoleon I were transferred to Paris in 1840), is already fitted here and thus replaces the previously dominant sun hand. A typical Empire hand harmonizes here with the Rococo style elements of the Louis XV period.
