10-inch Comtoise clock with a square dial enameled on iron. The winding holes were drilled into the iron sheet before enameling. Since the iron sheet was base-enameled, it tends to chip extensively (see detail photo of mounting holes). The patent for iron enameling was granted around 1850. Double signature: This could be an authentic wedding clock, as it features the names of the spouses, the wife's maiden name, and the year 1854. Anchor escapement, simultaneous half-hour and full-hour chime on bell and gong with repetition.
