No. 88 CUM
11-inch Comtoise clock with lyre pendulum and side-mounted barrel music box from around 1855/60.
Half-hour and full-hour chime on a bell with repetition. The music box plays hourly, either—adjustable—always the same tune or one of six different tunes. The adjustment lever is visible below the barrel.
This clock was designed and built as a musical clock, but the music box is a standard unit that was manufactured and supplied for wooden cases. To the right of the comb of the music box, the recess for the barrel spring can be seen.
The drive for this clock is via rope pulley. The pressed brass decorative plate features a familial motif: the sailor's homecoming.
