9-inch Comtoise clock with automaton and pressed pendulum from around 1880. Equipped with an anchor escapement, half- and full-hour strike on a gong spring with repetition at the full hour. Features a date display and enamel dial signed: Léon à Laval. The decorative plate and pendulum are marked with "CN Depose". CN stands for Carl Neufeld, who produced and supplied stamped decorative parts for the French market from Iserlohn after 1870. A basic model could be delivered with two different movable decorative disks: bird motif or musician motif.
