Nr. 555 CUM
10-inch Comtoise clock from around 1825 with 5 bells and quarter strike, so-called Grande Sonnerie and warning strike. After each quarter strike, the corresponding hour number is struck. About 10 seconds before the quarter strike, it is announced by a single strike on the smallest bell. Quarter strike on 3 bells and hour strike on the large bell. 8-day movement with verge escapement and folded pendulum. Due to the high number of hour strikes, the winding rope is guided over a pulley, as otherwise, the weight would reach the bottom much earlier than the weights of the going train and quarter strike. Two-part decorative sheet with dragon motif, enamel dial with Roman hour numbers and small Arabic quarter numbers. Signed: Felix Constantin à SIROD D PMT DU JURA. Felix Constantin is a member of the Constantin family, which reappears on the Swiss side of the Jura in the name of the company Vacheron et Constantin.
