Comtoise clock from the period 1795/1799. Large brass cast frame with a small sun head above an acanthus leaf, flanked by 2 angels and large C-curves. Brass sheet covering the lower half of the dial. 8-day weight-driven movement with verge escapement and hour strike on a bell with repetition, half-hour strike en passant. An additional lever in the large strike mechanism, which protrudes through the cage’s top plate to the height of the bell, allows for remote triggering of the strike mechanism by attaching a rope to this lever – for example, from another room.
