Nr. 143 CUM
9-inch Comtoise clock with verge escapement and folded pendulum from around 1830. Half-hour strike en passant, full-hour strike on a bell with repetition. Two-part embossed decorative plate featuring palm leaves on a fruit bowl, symbolizing goodness/Jesus Christ, and two flickering dragons, symbolizing evil/the devil. In the corners of the dial, four stylized octagonal petals on a radially grooved background. The name "Kientzler," likely well-known in the Black Forest, indicates a Black Forest clock dealer who settled in Moulins and subsequently sold Comtoise clocks under his name.
