9-inch Comtoise clock with anchor escapement and 'Black Forest signature' from around 1835/40. Half-hour and full-hour chime on a bell with repetition. Two-piece decorative plate with a sun face and cornucopia motif. Enamel dial signed: Villmann Hétich à Rambouillet. Two Black Forest clock merchants settled in Rambouillet and sold Comtoise clocks under the company name 'Villmann Hétich.' The name Hettich was romanized to Hétich, which closely resembles the original German name in this spelling.
