Nr. 561 CUM (Donation No. S 3 CUM / May 2025)

10-inch Comtoise CLOCK with a one-piece pressed decorative plate from the period 1843 to 1848. This plate shows typical elements of the two-piece plates, namely the rib as well as four identical decorative corners. At the rib, the two hanging decorative corners were usually cut off, rotated by 180°, and then mounted as the lower corners. This plate with the motif Rest of the Shepherds bears four imprinted inscriptions: 1) REPOS (Rest) top left, 2) DES BERGERS (of the shepherds) top right, 3) H . . .D (probably initials of the maker / unfortunately unknown) bottom left, 4) DEPOSE (protected) bottom right. This motif also exists as a two-piece mounted model.
Both versions, one-piece and two-piece, existed side by side in the period 1843–1848.
