9-inch Comtoise clock with pinwheel escapement (amant) and folded pendulum from around 1810/15. Half-hour strike en passant, full-hour strike on a bell with repetition, rear pendulum suspension. Three-part embossed decorative plate featuring a sun face (Apollo) with ribbon, fruit bowl, and acanthus leaves. In the corners of the dial, four five-pointed stars on a radially grooved background. The enamel dial with arcade minuterie and five-minute markings (à la Dauphine) is mounted on the decorative plate, a characteristic feature of the first Comtoise clocks with embossed decorative plates developed by Paget starting in 1810. Below the small sun face, you can see a small screw used to attach these early decorative plates to a special iron holder.
