9-inch Comtoise clock with Arabic numerals from around 1855/60, anchor escapement, and lyre pendulum, featuring a date display and an embossed decorative plate depicting a bourgeois couple. Half-hour and full-hour strikes on a bell with repetition. On the numerals, for example at the 8, it is clear that this is a paint application. What appears black is actually a very thick brownish layer of manganese oxide.
