Nr. 358 CUM

10-inch Comtoise clock with anchor escapement and gridiron pendulum from the decade 1870/1880. Half-hour and hour strikes on a bell with repetition. Embossed decorative plate depicting a wine harvest, marked on the left: la vendange 9 & 10, and on the right: F on F se GP? Fabrication Française GP. Gaudard Paget? is likely the manufacturer. This decorative plate is 'galvanically' gilded, which means both the front and back show no signs of oxidation. This difference from the non-gilded decorative plate of clock Nr. 359 CUM is clearly noticeable.
Both the 10-inch (pouces) and 11-inch (pouces) decorative plates were manufactured with the same embossing tool. Whenever the 10-inch decorative plate motif was required for a clock mechanism, the lower edge, approximately 5 cm wide, was trimmed accordingly. Enamel dial signed: Louis Durand à Aix.
