9-inch Comtoise clock from around 1825 from the Haute-Marne region. Two-part pressed decorative plate featuring a palm leaf on a fruit bowl and two flickering dragons. In the corners of the dial, four stylized octagonal petals on a radially grooved background. The dial with its decorative plate is overall much larger than the movement and extends beyond the movement on all four sides. Double-curved enamel dial with Roman hour and Arabic quarter-hour markings. Sawed iron hands. Small anchor escapement with the anchor shaft mounted in a bracket in front of the front movement plate. Half-hour striking en passant and full-hour striking with repetition on a bell. Iron flywheel. The hour rack is mounted on the back of the hour wheel, which is extremely large-toothed. Winding barrels made of wood.
